Jacqueline Joan Panji
ASPIRASI for this time wants to introduce a young Sabahan woman who has traveled and worked overseas, especially at Abu Dhabi, UAE. Besides traveling and working, she also has managed to travel, get experieces and see around the world. Let’s get to know her story of living abroad. May it be an inspiration for all Sabahan youngsters as well.
Greetings from Abu Dhabi!
My name is Jacqueline Joan Panji, hailed from Keningau Sabah. This year I am turning 33. I am the eldest of 6 siblings.
I am currently working as Engineer for a National Airlines of United Arab Emirates. On 7 Mar 2021, it will mark my 5 years anniversary working with this company and living in Abu Dhabi. This year will be the 11th years of indulging myself in aviation after I graduated with Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance in 2009. I started my career in Malaysia in 2010 as Junior Technician, and from there, I kept on walking forward and never look back anymore.
Working in a male dominated industry will not be a bed of roses story to tell, but its a journey full of roller coaster ride that I will be proud to share with to people especially to our youth in Sabah.
Why did I choose aviation?
Ever since I am young, I love aeroplanes. I think every kid does. My father used to tell me that when I was small every time, I heard a sound of an aeroplane flying, I will run outside the house and point my finger to the sky.
After i graduated from high school, I have decided to join aviation school. I was the only girl in my batch at that time and the competition in every semesters, assessments and exams was a real thing! I did well during my diploma, I used this time to mentally prepare myself once I join aviation industry.
I graduated at the age of 21 years old and joined internship with MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) company in Sepang and I was hired as Junior Technician by this company at the age of 22 years old.
Batchmates during my Aviation School
This was the beginning of the fun roller coaster ride. My career has been my life ever since. I remember at this young age; I spent my most hours at work. And when I reach home, it will be my time to sleep for little hours and I will need to have time to study too since I am doing examinations to get my aviation professional license.
In 2016, I made a brave decision to leave Malaysia to work in Abu Dhabi and join my current company. In this company, I have established my career, but it is still a continuous knowledge-digging process and a never-ending effort to be better than I am today.
I start becoming a motivational speaker for youth in 2018 when I was invited by UITM Shah Alam. From here I started to accept invitation to speak in school and universities, boarding homes as well for radio station whenever I am flying back to Malaysia. I am very enthusiastic towards youth. I believe the future of our country depends on our youth today. I do not have much money to share to people, I don’t have much time to spend for NGO activities, so I am sharing some of my time off whenever I’m back to Malaysia to spend for our youth and speak of encouragement, failures, success, planning, direction in life and as well opportunities.
As personal achievements, I won 1st Runner Up Unduk Ngadau Johor UPKO 2013(ethnic beauty pageant), Miss Culture Pride BHF 2018(ethnic beauty pageant) and received an award “Woman Inspiration Sabah 2019”.

This journey of mine is not a story of bed of roses, but it is indeed a journey that I dreamt of. I will always thrive for success, not just for me but for my family and for the society that I can reach. Maybe I do not have the capacity to help people in a large scale, but I hope that my story will aspire our youth and plant a hope and courage in their heart.
